Wise Voice from Within!

All we heard had been backlog of cases in the COURT, the need for JUDICIAL Appointment Commission, postponement of CASES, delays in writing grounds of JUDGMENT and many more. It seems that the pointing game here highlights the JUDICIARY while there exists the right to be heard. And it seems the JUDICIARY has ones who put efforts into solving the problems and be positive about it. Objectivity and do hear this please, de facto Law Minister!
At last, someone is speaking on behalf of the judges! Last Friday 20 June 2008, a voice that had long been awaited which NST reported the next day:
"Court of Appeal President Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi is seeking the cooperation of the Bar Council to help reduce the backlog of cases by expediting the hearing of pending criminal and civil appeals."
Tan Sri Zaki said, "Out of 900 pending appeals, the website only received three responses from lawyers. The Attorney-General's Chambers also responded on some of the pending appeals."
"Towards this end, the Court of Appeal had requested the members of the Bar to respond to some questions. All that is required is for the lawyer concerned to access the website http://coapending.kehakiman.gov.my and click on some answers," he said and "to date, there was not a single response to the website in respect of civil appeals." Bernama reported on 23 June 2008:
"In a move to clear more than 10,000 backlog civil cases, Court of Appeal president Tan Sri Zaki Tun Azmi has reiterated his call to the council to help provide information requested by the court on pending appeals. In a press statement Monday, he said the information was needed to enable the court to prioritise court cases which could, and needed to be speedily disposed off." Read this.
Finally, someone is looking into the matter objectively. The President of the Court of Appeal seems to be bullish in solving the problem and therefore stressed on getting cooperation from members of the legal fraternity. He also puts the facilities to good use especially the internet and website to get speedy results.
As said before, when issues have been identified, the next step is to solve the problems and solve them objectively. A bonus would be having ones who can work intelligently from the manager to the staff. This issue of reducing backlog of cases must of course be a priority.
Addressing problems regarding the cases by urging all parties involved to work together is wise. Pointing and telling others that they should be like this or that, or they should do this or that, is not. Get it? Applause applause for Tan Sri Zaki!!!!
